Have you been told stories when small?
Most of you have heard and listened patiently to the historical past of your great family members, narrated by the living members of your family. I know you have been told some stories that have shaped your thoughts and outlooks towards others around you. We have been scared by our own relatives to fear some members of our family. For what reason... Is narrated to us through the fictional rendering of events clubbed with superb imagination and mystery... Enough to cater to the taste of a small child's curiosity.
We have also been told stories about our father's family by our maternal relatives and vice versa... How horrible those stories are... They eventually influence a child's attitude to his or her own parents. That's why there is a saying that's says we don't need to think much about ourselves as our relatives would do it better.
I still remember some tales told to me by some of the great "storytelling maniacs" of my family. It haunts me even today as I think of the events Describes and narrated to me back then. You might think as to why I call the maniacs... It's because very few people get gifted by the unique talent of storytelling and some of these stupid ones use it to manipulate the thoughts of yet another. They are truly maniacs, in my view. They narrate stories so beautifully that all that they narrate seems true to the listening kids, while making them feel the characters of the story are monstrous and the storytelling maniac is an angel but that's not the truth.
It's very important to avoid such maniacs and their presence must be overlooked by the parents themselves. Make sure they don't completely manipulate your child. The child should grow under the warmth of his or her parents at least one of them is needed or anyone like a parent is needed to guide the child till his own will takes charge of his thoughts and ways in life, helping him to form his own convictions and beliefs.
It's always better for kids to think about the good things of life as well as be acquainted with the bad side of life. But none of them should be manipulated to think of people as bad or monstrous. They should be taught that all the people in this world are "Grey" characters in this black world. They are a mix of good and bad. No one is essentially bad or good. This knowledge can help the child as he or she grows up to be an adult. Otherwise when a person they deemed as good turns bad and villainous one fine day or when they wrong someone they deemed bad was in fact not that bad, it would affect the child's morale and he would be internally and mentally torn apart.
